I'm writing from Erlangen, Germany. What's the deal?
- What Happened This Summer -
I was also THRILLED when my friend, Danny, proposed to his girlfriend during a ballet class he was teaching. And THEN they asked me to take their engagement photos IN Indian River! You can see them all here.
After camp I ferried over to Juneau to begin working on We Eat Fish!, a documentary for the Southeast Alaskan Conservation Council about the importance of clean water in Alaska. I traveled all over the Southeast with Lee House shooting this film. It was....amazing. Here are a few stills from the work-in-progress:
I returned to my home in Poulsbo, Washington, to edit We Eat Fish! While at home in the PNW I got to:
Photograph my darling friend Hailey on her big day in Sequim, Washington. You can see all the shots here.
OK but now I'm in Europe
With We Eat Fish! still in post-production, I headed to Germany. My incredible mother, Debbie Jo Rock, got a job at an international school here in Erlangen, as a middle-school librarian. She and my dad have been living here for a few months now, and now they have me lurking around their cute little flat.
On Wednesday, I will start work in Athens, Greece, as a paraprofessional/teacher's assistant for a Colorado College block abroad. The class is Romantic Comedy; the birth, death, and rebirth, taught by the one, the only, Lisa "B-" Hughes. I will be working with the class in Athens (and with retreats to Santorini and Hydra) for a month. Not too shabby!
After Greece, I'll come back to Germany to hang with the fam and work on a few film projects that have been on the back-burner for a while. And clean up this here website. And travel. And knit. And drink German beer with my dad. And run with my mom. It's going to be great.
I will see you all back in the States around January!
p.s. Any friends in Miami? My thesis film, God's In The Garage, will be screening at the John Paul II International Film Festival on October 10th. Here's some info!
