RUSTIC SPRINGTIME WATERFRONT POULSBO, WASHINGTON WEDDING

It meant everything to me to photograph the wedding of my two dear friends - Emily (“Emmy” to me forever, as she well knows), who is one of my dearest hometown friends, and Chris, another old pal at this point from the time we worked at a summer camp in Sitka, Alaska, in college. It was made even sweeter because they met through me (watching a UW football game at a dive bar in Wallingford when I moved back to Seattle), and because the wedding happened in my and Emmy’s beloved hometown, Poulsbo, Washington. It was such a special day, and incredibly personal to me. I often don’t shoot weddings for such close friends, but it just felt right. Love these pals so much.

Other special flairs for me - the first dance was performed by one of my best friends and fellow Sitka Fine Arts Camp counselor, R.O. Shapiro. Another best friend from growing up, Amy of Capital Blooms, did the incredible (mushroom!!) florals. And finally, Kiana Lodge is famously one of the filming locations for Twin Peaks. Keep your eyes peeled for our little nod.

We chose to get married in my hometown of Poulsbo, WA. We wanted a quiet setting in nature that was still easy to access for all our family and friends.

We had beautiful weather for April and were able to have the wedding outside, though our ceremony was interrupted by some Canadian geese loudly landing on the water.

The wedding felt comfortable, cozy, and personal. It felt amazing to be on my hometown and have my photographer, my incredible florist Amy (@capitalblooms), and even my hair and makeup artist (@beautybymichellemai) be people I grew up with.
