Jason and I met during a singer/songwriter ensemble in college, and I remember being immediately comfortable around him. We spent some time together and started officially dating 6 months later after I showed up to a movie in sweatpants, not even considering the possibility that it was a date. That's how easy it's always felt with Jason, and I couldn't imagine spending my life with anyone else.

For one shining moment, a week or two I think, Kenzi and I hauled boxes upon boxes of merch into music venues up and down the West Coast every night. I was driving and selling merch for The Wild Reeds as they opened for the musician Kenzi was working for, Gregory Alan Isakov. The tour was a dream for me, and Kenzi showed me the tricks of the trade, like how to prop up vinyl records on a wire rack with two binder clips and what a “buyout” is. I was over the freaking moon when she asked if I would photograph her wedding.

The day was insane. The good kind of insane. The “this must be magic” kind of insane. The community surrounding Kenzi and Jason is one of the most creative and kind little energy clusters I’ve ever seen, and they exploded all over Denver’s Washington Park on this hot summer’s day. From Kenzi’s dress embroidery (I cried), to friend’s art and design and gathering decorating the Boathouse (gasps), to her and Jason walking hand and hand down the aisle (tears), to Jason surprising Kenzi with a crowd-participating musical performance (sobbing), this incredible day just dripped with this dream team’s love for each other, for their future, for their friends and family, for music and art and community and color and joy. I feel very honored to have been a participant in this special special event.
