WITCHY FALL MOUNTAIN ELOPEMENT IN VAIL, COLORADO

Do you even know how long I’ve been wanting to describe a wedding or elopement as “witchy?”

Alexa and Ryan’s elopement was landmark. Let me count the ways.

  • It was in Vail, Colorado, in October, in the mountains.

  • They incorporated vows from Tim Burton’s 2005 (!?!) “Corpse Bride.” They referred to them as “Tim’s vows” in all of our emails and schedules.

  • They said “is it time for Dr. Dog?” as they were getting ready in their hotel suite. Then we listened to Dr. Dog for the rest of our time there.

  • I was the only other attendee. This didn’t just mean that I was the witness, I was also the one who zipped Alexa into her dress. I waved at her parents on FaceTime before disconnecting into the experience. I cheered for them when they married each other, and I was the only audience member for their first dance.

2020 was so weird, and so hard, but experiences like these make me feel so many feelings of gratitude, wonderment, and bliss for the sweet humans I am graced to work with. One of those days where I climb into bed at night sighing “I love my job.”
